Client Info, Checklists

 I Stock Turbine Filter Elements:

Racor 500, 900, 1000.

Racor 500 Turbine style (dual) filter system; 900 and 1000 similar but larger.

If you have Racor Turbine filters here is the checklist:

Pictures of the filter housing and elements, that contain the identifying marks. Do not rely on verbal descriptions as we have had mix-ups which has lead to trouble. Is it known how much use the filters have had?

Are there replacement elements aboard? If not, I will bring one. Be sure they are the correct units, we have had mistakes made in this regard. The usual mistake and biggest problem is having Racor 1000 elements when the filter unit is a 900, which is about 3" shorter. Here is a picture of the three sizes 1000/900/500. The one way that you can be sure of identifying the 1000 units is that they have two band straps, about 6 inches apart, like the unit on the left in the picture below. The 500 units have a smaller diameter than the 900/1000 units.

Are there vacuum gauges or indicators. If not I will bring them.

I stock Racor Spin-On replacements and substitutes:

Wix 33614(R20P),  Wix 33504(R25,6T), BF1348-O(R60P), LFF5406(R90P), Wix 33847(R120T), Racor R120P

Luberfiner 8676(R12P)

Racor 400 Spin-on with R120P filter and vacuum indicatoar(yellow top).

If you have Spin-On filters here is the checklist:

Pictures of the filter housing and elements, that contain the identifying marks; the amount of clearance below the filter. Do not rely on verbal descriptions as we have had mix-ups which has lead to trouble. Is it known how much use the filters have had?

Are there replacement elements aboard? If not, I will bring one. Be sure they are the correct units, we have had mistakes made in this regard.

Are there tools to remove the elements and bowls. If not, I will bring them. Wrench 5", hose clamp.

Are there vacuum gauges or indicators. If not I will bring them. Vacuum gauges are the ONLY way to have any idea how much life is left in the Spin-on fuel filters.

Do not assume that this stock is intended for anything more than use in an emergency. I only bring one filter and it is only intended to get us off the ocean at the nearest port.

Is all this necessary? Not every time and that is the trouble. It is necessary once in a while and the history is that it is nearly impossible to know when it will be.
