Estimating the cost of a delivery
The cost of a delivery depends on many factors. In general the costs consist of the following:
  1. The Captain's fee.
  2. Crew pay.
  3. Fuel.
  4. Transportation.
  5. Food.
  6. Phone.
  7. Port Fees, Moorage.
  8. Depending on the route and length of run, there may be expenses for repairs and investment in spare parts.
More details on costs
Historical data from recent past deliveries for vessels in the 50-60' range:

Costs are in US Dollars

San Francisco to Puget Sound $3500-$5000
Southern California to Puget Sound $4500-$7500
Tahiti to Panama $23000
Houston Texas to Miami Florida $9000
Seward Alaska to So. Oregon $7000

Note: These numbers reflect great variations in fuel costs and consumption, and may not be true for a vessel you have in mind. Also, you should not assume that a trip run in the opposite direction will cost the same. Panama to Tahiti, could be done in 4-5 weeks instead of the nearly 8 that it took the other way. In addition fuel is about $4.30 cents a gallon now, versus up to $1.50 just 2 or 3 years ago when some of these trips took place. For a big powerboat run fast, fuel is the largest part of the cost. Assume about 50%-80% more than the numbers above for trips to be done presently.

Estimates base upon the table above for a trip today.

San Francisco to Puget Sound $5000-$7500
Southern California to Puget Sound $7500-$13500
Tahiti to Panama $33000
Houston Texas to Miami Florida $14000
Seward Alaska to So. Oregon $12000

One final note: these numbers include everything expended for making the trip.

In summary
The cost of a delivery can vary quite a bit. To make an efficient plan(low cost), requires knowing details about the route and vessel. With this knowledge in hand it then becomes possible to make a plan which holds the costs to the minimum, with due consideration for safety.
